At times it seems as if there's a bit of a stigma with respect to using technology in sustainable agriculture settings; conversely we've noticed over the years that many people tend to grossly discount the value of their labor. From our perspective both of these are inappropriate; it's not possible to farm in the long term if it requires 12+ hour days of labor, and technology, at least of the appropriate sort, is one of the tools available to reduce the labor input associated with farming.
Among the many hats we wear, we're scientists and technologists. As part of the Sophia project we'll be sharing the technologies that we use, our experiences with them, both good and bad, as well as releasing plans, drawings, and code under the terms of the Creative Commons BY-NC-SA 4.0 license.
Stay tuned!
